Vardenafil is a potent medication which provides long lasting effects in the treatment of Erectile Dysfunction (ED) in men. The binding of nitric oxide causes the production of the compound named cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate (cGMP). cGMP causes the relaxation of the muscles and thus provides necessary space for the arteries to enlarge. The enlarged arteries pump in more blood to the organ. As the organ gets engorged with blood, it causes the organ to undergo erection.

Vardenafil thus ceases male impotence caused by Erectile Dysfunction (ED). FDA has approved Vardenafil in 2003. Vardenafil is known to curb the enzyme Phosphodiesterase and hence it is known as PDE – 5 inhibitor. The difference between Vardenafil and other PDE-5 inhibitors is the longetivity of effects granted by each of them. Sildenafil Citrate works within a span of 30 minutes and its effects last for almost 4 hours. While Sildenafil Citrate is available in the variants of 100 mg for a standard dose, the standard dose of Vardenafil is 10 mg. The available dose variants of Vardenafil involve quantities of 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg & 20mg. Vardenafil is a powerful prescription drug and hence should be consumed only after consulting a qualified medical practitioner. Before taking Vardenafil, the physical assessment of the individual should be done in reference to suitability and age limit. Senior men are advised to start the medication with a small dose of 5 mg. The dosage should be taken 45 minutes or an hour before commencing the sexual intercourse.

Vardenafil should not be consumed with any other kind of PDE-5 inhibitor. Vardenafil should not be consumed with any kind of alcoholic beverage or wines. It should never be consumed with foods rich in fats as it affects the rate at which Vardenafil is absorbed. Vardenafil is available in 2 variants – solid pills and Orally Dissolvable Tablets (ODT). Vardenafil should be consumed with a full glass of water in order to provide best effects. Only a single pill of Vardenafil should be consumed for a day. If excessive dose of Vardenafil is taken, thenit may would cause side effects.

Vardenafil should not be consumed with any kind of antibiotics and anti allergens. Consumption of antibiotics causes inhibition of the action of Vardenafil. Vardenafil should not be consumed with any kind of medication which is used to lower the blood pressure. Medicines used to check blood pressure contain nitrates and are known to counter interact with Vardenafil. Vardenafil is also known to increase heart rate and may cause chest pain. Known side effects of Vardenafil include headache, diarrhea, dizziness, vomiting and nausea which are similar to any other PDE-5 inhibitor.
